Still, there are items that you shouldn't skimp on. This is almost too obvious to mention, but it does bear repeating: Never Buy Cheap Shoes. If they're not constructed well, they will literally be a pain in your rear-end, your back, your ankles, your everywhere, while the right "pricey" pair can elevate an entire look.

"You can fool somebody if you've got a good shoe and a good bag," says Jeffrey Kalinsky of the luxury boutiques Jeffrey. "If you spot someone in a fabulous pair of Pierre Hardy shoes and a killer Dior bag, you're going to assume that the clothes are all designer and the jewelry is real."
